ACTION ITEMS

  • Submit Public Comments by September 17th to Oppose Proposed Overhaul of Public Service Loan Forgiveness

The U.S. Department of Education proposed a new rule on August 18th to unlawfully limit which charitable nonprofits qualify as eligible employers under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Nonprofits and the public now have until September 17th to submit public comments opposing the proposed rule and making it more difficult for nonprofits to attract the most effective workforce needed to serve their communities. For more information on the proposed rule, read the National Council of Nonprofits’ (NCN) analysis. NCN’s comment guide includes clear directions on how to submit your comments, points to raise, and background information on the proposed rule. [Read more]

  • NY State Contracting: Sign On Today For a Better Contracting System

The State has long contracted with nonprofits to provide essential services to communities across New York. But persistent delays in payment, an over-reliance on nonprofits to front costs, and a burdensome contracting process have undermined the sector’s stability for decades, weakened the system of care for those most in need and utilized taxpayer dollars inefficiently. Gov. Hochul has the power to advance a better contracting system with nonprofit organizations by signing NYS bill S7001(Mayer)/A7616(Paulin) into law.

If you haven't already, SIGN ON HERE to the Updated Letter to Governor Hochul.
