Westchester’s Affordable Housing Crisis

 

Hurricane Ida has severely impacted the numerous Westchester communities and has once again made evident the urgent need to address the affordable housing crisis in Westchester.

In Mamaroneck alone:

  • 150 families are without homes
  • 54 buildings are condemned
  • 100s of cars are destroyed
  • Displaced families are in jeopardy of losing their jobs

United Way Offers Grants to Support Flooding Recovery Efforts

The United Way of Westchester and Putnam announced that it is accepting grant proposals from nonprofits in Westchester County as part of its crisis response to the recent flooding. The proposal submission deadline is 4 PM on Oct. 1.

NYSHealth Launches 2022 Special Projects Fund Request for Proposals

The New York State Health 2022 Special Projects Fund Request for Proposals (RFP) is available. There are two funding cycles for the 2022 Special Projects Fund. Deadlines for the online inquiry form are October 7, 2021 and March 2, 2022Read details HERE

New York HEROES ACT

The New York Health and Essential Rights Act (New York Hero Act) requires every employer to adopt an airborne infectious disease exposure prevention plan to protect workplace and public health and safety.

Last week  Governor Hochul formally designated COVID-19 to be an airborne infectious disease which requires all employers to implement workplace safety plans in the event of an airborne infectious disease, helping to prevent workplace infections.

The New York State Department of Labor published standard model plans which includes a generic model prevention and industry-specific plans.  Go to HERE to find these templates, timelines, and more information to comply.

Through Feeding America’s nationwide campaign designed to raise awareness of hunger across the US, the goal is to inspire Westchester residents to learn about hunger in their communities and join the mission to nourish our neighbors in the fight against hunger.
