The Yonkers Philharmonic opens its 2018-2019 Season with a concert sure to delight its faithful audience and classical music novices alike, especially families with children and grandchildren. Richard Strauss was only 13 when he composed his Serenade in E-flat Major, Op. 7 featuring thirteen winds. Mendelssohn wrote his String Symphony No. 10 in B minor at the age of 12. How that for a homework assignment? The beloved story of Tubby the Tuba is narrated by Robert Sherman, the award winning broadcaster. Finally, Carl Heinrich Hubler's Concerto for 4 Horns and Orchestra brings the Metropolitan Horn Authority to Saunders stage. It's a rare opportunity to see 4 french horns in front of the orchestra. www.yonkersphilharmonic.org
