Get Your Census On - This Weekend! #2020 Census

Census Awareness Weekend:
May 1st, May 2nd, and May 3rd, 2020

April 1st was Census Day – but the 202 Census is not over!

People who have not responded can still do so by Internet, phone and by mail.  Please help spread the  message - the  2020 Census is taking place and it is important for everyone to respond on Census Awareness Weekend: May 1st,  May 2nd, and May 3rd, 2020.

The current Covid-19 situation has delayed field operations for the 2020 Census.  We are more reliant than ever on self-response - by phone, online, or by paper - maximize participation.

On May 1st, 2nd & 3rd the Census Bureau would like to flood social media channels with messages that encourage self-response. Please include  #2020 Census in your social media posts. Please imagine how your organization or business can best create a social media storm on May 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Can we increase our response rate by 10% this weekend?

"It was such a pleasure working with the team at Inspiria Outdoor.  We needed to purchase outdoor advertising billboards that spoke to the diverse residents of our village about the critical importance of filling out the Census. They made location recommendations, provided us with a cost effective campaign and turned it around quickly.  We couldn't be happier with the outcome."

Westchester County Executive George Latimer kicked off the County’s 2020 Census Campaign to ensure that every Westchester County resident is counted. Included in the County’s efforts to promote the Census is a robust public awareness campaign in both English and in Spanish, which includes a series of public service announcements (PSA’s), each one focused on a different target audience for the CensusRentersDisabled CommunitySeniorsYouthBusiness CommunityYoung Children, and Latino Community (English and Spanish).

Why is the Census so Important?

Data from the Census will be used for the next ten years for many things - including determining New York State’s representation in Congress as well as local districting. Census data is also used for the distribution of about $880 Billion of federal funds to local municipalities according to a December 2018 report from the George Washington Institute on Policy.

The Census Bureau estimates that every person that is not counted equals a loss of approximately $2,500 per year to local municipalities. This means that every 400 people who are not counted equates to a loss of about $1 Million in funding - each year.
